Pollen comes in many different shapes and sizes--just like plants do! The structure of pollen has a huge effect on how the plant will look or act because it has different structure and function based on what it will be carried. spread by, where it will live, and who is going to eat it. Because pollen is this sort of key piece to the puzzle that makes up a flower, it helps scientists in the quest to finding out a plant's origin and evolution.
